Kate Schuessler attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Emory University School of Law. During law school, she interned with the Atlanta Legal Aid Society and the Georgia Innocence Project and was a summer associate for a well-respected law firm in Florida. Those experiences enabled her to discover her passion for counseling individuals in need of legal assistance and negotiating the criminal justice system.

After receiving her J.D. in 2006, Kate began her legal career as an associate in a large international law firm’s litigation department. With an emphasis on white collar matters, she focused her practice on defending criminal cases. Kate’s representative experience includes counseling an internet pharmacy website owner on compliance issues, pre-indictment negotiations with public corruption prosecutors resulting in no charges being filed against firefighters, representation of legal immigrants in criminal matters to avoid deportation proceedings, and negotiation with prosecutors to prevent incarceration in domestic violence and drug cases.

Kate joined Kish & Lietz as an associate in December 2008, thrilled to devote her career exclusively to criminal defense. Admitted to practice in both Georgia and Florida, she is also licensed to appear in federal courts in the Northern District of Georgia and the Southern District of Florida. She is a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
